Reading

Since my move to the northern suburbs I have definitely stepped up my reading volume. Sometimes knocking back 2 books per week. This is good for my wife as she reads them after me without having to purchase additional ones. A friend of mine put me onto this fantastic business called 'The Book Depository' It is the largest dedicated online bookseller in the UK. The best part of all is they ship anywhere in the world for free! So when I'm a few books away from running out, I put in an order for some more. Usually the books I'm after cost only $8. A bargain compared to the prices I was paying in Aussie bookstores. I have three writers who I have almost read in entirety. Nelson DeMille, Stephen King and John Grisham. The later two go without saying, but you might not know DeMille. If you get a chance, check him out. His most famous is probably The General's Daughter, which was made into a film staring John Travolta. Anyway even with the help of the low price books at 'The Book Depository'. I still find myself spending too much on books, as well as filling up all of my bookshelves. So the next step will probably be a Kindle. I was hoping to get the new touch screen one, but Amazon isn't currently posting that one to Australia. Anyone using a Kindle at the moment? Also if anyone has an author they would like to suggest, I am running out of books from my favourite authors. My genre's are thrillers and horrors mostly.

  1. Mate, the kindle touch has recently been made available to Australia so check it out! Dean Koontz writes a number of thrillers so you might like him. Several books made into movies including Hideaway, Sphere and Sole Survivor. I have read a lot of King and several Koontz so my guess is you will like.

Have you read the Girl with the Dragon tattoo books? The second and third books are more in line with the thriller genre.

Also, I can highly recommend Matthew Reily. He writes very action orientated books with a very lethal element. Scarecrow and the Jackwest Junior books are his big franchises but all the others are great reads too. If you remind me, I'll lend you ice station next time I see you.

    1. Thanks mate. Sarah ordered the kindle touch yesterday (although not sure if it's for her or me :) Im all over the girl with books. Was a little disappointed with the film adaption, but that was probably to be expected. Read a bit of koontz when i was younger, probably should give him another go
